Hey everyone, Tessa from tessacotton here. Happy October! I’m pretty excited, this is absolutely my favorite month of the year. Fall is in the air, Halloween is on its way (my birthday, too!) and everything you could possibly imagine is pumpkin flavored. Or scented. Or colored. I’m in love.
Maybe it’s the rapid increase of pumpkin spice lattes in my diet but I’m kinda digging this new manicure! It’s pumpkin themed, like the rest of the universe, and it’s got a fancy little shimmer to glam things up a bit.
To recreate this look you’ll need:
-2 contrasting nail polish colors. One plain and one metallic produces the best finished look!
-Triangle makeup sponge
-Toothpick
-Q-tips
-Nail polish remover
Begin with two coats of the plain color (in my case, burnt orange). Completely cover nails and let dry completely. Meanwhile, drip a little of each color onto a disposable surface and blend with a toothpick. You can always add more later, so go ahead and conserve your polish!
Dab your sponge in the blended polish and blot a little. Carefully press the sponge onto a single nail, rolling it back and forth from side to side. Use a side of the sponge that doesn’t have any polish if you need to do any touch-ups.
Unless you’re some kind of nail polish wizard your hands are going to look a little freaky. Clean-up is super easy with a Q-tip and some polish remover. The Q-tip is small enough to get all the polish off your skin without messing with your gorgeous ombre manicure.
There you have it! It may look like a lot of work, but this was one of the quickest manicures I’ve done in a while. If you give this technique a try I would absolutely love to see it. Hit me up on instagram or twitter. Happy early Halloween!
