This is my favorite go to recipe for all the fancy decorated cookies I make.
And sugar cookies in general.

Servings 5 dozen 3" cookies
Ingredients
- 6 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 cups unsalted butter room temperature
- 2 cups white granulated sugar
- 2 eggs room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract or desired flavoring almond perhaps?
- 1 teaspoons salt
Instructions
-
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla. Mix well. mix dry ingredients and add a little at a time to butter mixture. Mix until flour is incorporated and the dough comes together.
-
Chill for 1 to 2 hours.
-
Roll to desired thickness {spacers help A LOT} and cut into desired shapes. Bake on a Sil-Pat lined baking sheet at 350 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes or until just beginning to turn brown around the edges.
Recipe Notes
I usually make a half batch of this dough and get about 2 to 3 dozen cookies, depending on the shapes/sizes of the cookie cutter.
