I’ve been making Italian cream sodas for years. I’ve worked in two different Italian restaurants, and they’re always a hit. Especially when you carry 10 different syrup flavors. They’re a fizzy fun variation to a milkshake, and no where near as heavy. Don’t get me wrong I l-o-v-e milkshakes, but with the benefits of almond milk and my flavor combination, these sodas are perfect for summer!
When I got the chance to work with Silk Almond Milk I bee lined it for the coconut blend milk. I love love love coconut! Then I started looking around the kitchen. I had a couple clamshells of strawberries and a 2 liter of soda water. And the Strawberry Coconut Italian “Cream” Soda was born!
Italian soda syrups are available almost everywhere now, but I wanted to give my soda a really fresh taste. I blended some strawberries with a little water and sugar to make a puree instead of the syrup. The Silk Almond Coconut Blends Milk was unsweetened, which is why I added some sugar to the strawberries. The soda still aren’t all that sweet. Just flavored with enough sweetness to make it tasty. You can double the sugar in the recipe if you want a sweeter soda.
I love that the Silk Almond Milk make an easy dairy-free option for anyone that’s ever wanted to down one of these tasty drinks. Even if you’re not dairy-free, this soda it totally delicious. Get on it!
- 6 strawberries, stem removed and cut in half
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/4 cup Silk Almond Coconut Blends Milk
- Soda Water
- Add strawberries, sugar, and water to a food processor. Blend until smooth, scraping sides of bowl as needed.
- Grab two glasses and place some ice cubes in each glass.
- Divide puree between each glass (about 1 tablespoon each). Add 2 tablespoons Almond Coconut Milk Blend to each glass. Fill with soda water.
My boys had been bugging me for slushies all day so I blended the sodas, and they came out great!
Just be careful to hold the lid on tight so the soda water doesn’t make everything explode out of your blender.
