DIY Decorated Bowls

Hey guys! I’m Sarah from {Home-ology} modern vintage, and I’m so excited to be helping Julie out during her wedding weeks. Julie puts everything into her work, so she definitely deserves a couple weeks with her favorite guy and absolutely no stress. Lots of cocktails… but no stress!

Over at {Home-ology} I do a lot of creative endeavors (in addition to swooning over modern vintage design, gardening, and just a bit of cooking), so I thought it would be fun to virtually add something pretty to Julie’s wedding decor. It has to be handmade, ’cause that’s just how I roll, and it has to have just the right amount of modern detail.

I think I came up with something that perfectly suits her – a set of diy decorated bowls.

I love to shop thrift stores for things like this because you can nab a set of bowls for next to nothing. I think I paid $2 for this set of four; but once they’re embellished, these bowls be priceless! And honestly, who doesn’t want a set of bedazzled bowls?

This set is a fun collection perfect for any party, but I glammed them up just a bit so they’d also fit into one (or all) of her wedding celebrations.

A sparkly glitter bowl is so dreamy and absolutely bespeaks of weddings and all things celebratory. I love how a little glitter took this plain bowl and made it into something remarkable. A painted strip of school glue along the rim of the bowl and some of my favorite glitter was all I used here. So simple!

And this cutie was dotted with puff paint. Do you remember the puff paint sweatshirt rage of the 90’s? If not, you’re lucky – it was everywhere, and it wasn’t pretty. But today we get to enjoy puff paint in a new way when we use it to add a fun detail to this bowl.

I know this bowl doesn’t necessarily speak of weddings, but I wanted to add something with a little color that could be incorporated into celebrations not related to wedded bliss. And when it’s not in use for a party, it will be a creative display piece. This tribal pattern was painted with Martha Stewart’s line of glass paint, and I have to say I love this paint. It’s a dream to work with and can be baked in the oven for a dishwasher safe design that lasts.

So, congratulations on your wedding, Julie! I’m so excited for you and can’t wait to see pic’s. I even stalked your blog to see if you revealed your wedding dress, but no such luck. I was hoping for a rockabilly vintage-style gown because I think you could totally rock that look. But my bets are on something a bit more girly with a slight traditional feel. But no matter what gown you choose, you’ll be the most beautiful bride ever.

I hope you and the hubs enjoyed my virtual wedding gift!

xo, xo,

Sarah
