Oh my gosh y’all! Today is my very first Secret Recipe Club post. Weeeeeeee! I think I applied a good 4 months ago, I really don’t remember how long it’s been. I got my invitation at the end of January and I am so excited to find some new foodie blogs, make new friends, and find some new amazing recipes!
For my first assignment, I got Cooking with Moxie. I was sold on the name when I opened the assignment email. Jamie’s blog has a plethora (love that word) of recipes. With her Italian heritage and love for food bringing people together, I knew I wouldn’t have any trouble deciding what to cook for this months SRC.
I was wrong. I had about 4 recipes I knew I wanted to make. I just couldn’t make myself decide between them. Seriously. I had talked myself down to making two recipes, two didn’t sound as crazy as four, just so I could try them both. In the end the need to feed the boys won out, and I decided to make something that they would all devour. Sausage Bread it is. Jamie says this dish is a family tradition, and that was all I needed to tip the scales. {I’m keeping the pasta I’m drooling over in my back pocket to share with you soon.}
- Pizza Dough
- 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
- 1 pound Italian sausage, mild or hot (casings removed)
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- Black pepper, to taste
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Stretch out pizza dough to a rectangle on a greased baking sheet. Set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high heat. Cook sausage until cooked through and brown, about 8 to 10 minutes. Cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine sausage, mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, and pepper.
- Top the dough with sausage mixture, spread evenly over the surface leaving a 1″ edge. Roll the dough up like a jelly roll. The seam should be down when you are done so the filling doesn’t ooze out. Pinch the edges closed. Rub the remaining 2 tablespoons oil all over the bread to prevent sticking and to help brown the bread.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until dough is cooked and lightly browned. Cut into 1″ slices and serve.

Hi Julie! The move went great. Kayleen had it done so quickly. I’m got all my post categories relabeled and my link party hops fixed. I just need to convert all my recipes to ZipList. I should have had ziplist from the start. haha. Oh well. Thank you so much for the recommendation!
