Ingredients

  • White cake mix and ingredients to prepare
  • Green food coloring
  • Red & blue food coloring
  • Buttercream frosting
  • Keebler Fudge Striped Cookies
  • Bugles
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon shortening
  • Pastry bag and #3 tip

Instructions

  1. Make cake batter according to package, color with green food coloring, and bake cupcakes according to package directions.
  2. Mix red & blue food coloring into buttercream. This will give a weird purple/grey-ish color, I like this color for the witch’s hair. Frost cupcake with “purple” buttercream.
  3. Combine chocolate chips and shortening in a glass bowl, and microwave for 1 minute on 50% power. Stir until chocolate is smooth. If needed, nuke chocolate again for 30 seconds at 50% power, and stir. Repeate as necessary. DO NOT overheat chocolate, it will get clumpy and gross.
  4. Place Keebler cookies, chocolate side up on a plate. Dip Bugles into melted chocolate. Let the run off chocolate act and the seal between the Bugles and the cookies. I had to hold the Bugle in place for a minute to make sure they would stand up. Place cookie hats in fridge for 10 minutes to let chocolate seal set.
  5. Once chocolate is set, pipe green butter cream along the seal between the Bugle and the cookie.
  6. Place cookie hat on top of the cupcake.
