Stitch Fix #1

I’ve been holding this in for a week, but I got my first Stitch Fix shipment this month!  I’ve been seeing all these other bloggers posting about the awesome clothes they’ve gotten in their Stitch Fix boxes and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on my own set.

 Stitch Fix

So if you haven’t heard of Stitch Fix, here’s how it works.  You go to the Stitch Fix website and sign up for free.  You fill out your style profile – height, weight, clothing sizes, clothes you like from sets they show you, how often you want to see certain styles, price range for the pieces that are shipped to you, the works.  Then, you schedule your first Fix.  You get this box shipped you with 5 clothing pieces picked just for you.  And when I say for you, I mean they even go to your fashion pinterest board if you leave the URL to get an idea of what you like.  Seriously.  Then you try everything on.  If you love it, you keep it and pay Stitch Fix for the pieces you want.  AND if you buy all 5 pieces you get an extra discount.  If you don’t love anything (or want to return everything), throw it all in the pre-paid envelope and return them.  Then you can get another box the next month.  It’s like your own personal shopper!  They even send you styling tips and ideas.

Here’s what I got for my first fix!

Stitch Fix 1

This shirt is totally cute.  Horseshoes all over the place.  The neckline had this great pleated design to it, and studs.  The armholes had a different cut that you usually see on shirts, and I really liked it.  But I had to choose and this one lost to the dress below.

VERDICT: Returned

Stitch Fix 2

This shirt is amazingly comfortable.  I loved the colors, and cut was cute but not my fave.  And I got two tops from this same company.  They both had the same feel, but different colors and cuts.  The pink won out in the end.

VERDICT: Returned

Pomelo Corinna Striped Dolman Top $48

Stitch Fix 3

This shirt was picked by my stylist based of a plaid shirt she saw on my fashion Pinterest board.

While I totally get the choice, the cut on this shirt was all wrong for me, I didn’t really care for the fabric, and overall it was just a big no.  But I love that my stylist set me a big variety for my first box to learn what I like.  The best part about Stitch Fix might be that I get to give feedback about all the pieces – kept or returned – so they can tailor my next shipment better.

VERDICT: Returned

Collective Concepts Fullerton Plaid Print Short Sleeve Blouse $34

Stitch Fix 4

Okay, so I’m like freaking IN LOVE with this dress.  This picture is nothing compared to it on.  I can totally see it with a cute sweater and a pair of flats.  I’m so picky about even the idea of wearing a dress.  I promised myself I’d start branching out – more colors (not just black, which is my fave to wear), dresses, skirts – a big jump from the norm.  I want cuteness, not you edgy, relaxed girl.  Not that they can’t all be friends, but I realized last month when I registered Otto for kindergarten that I was going to be “Otto’s Mom” soon at school.  CRAZY!

VERDICT: Keeper!

41Hawthorn Farah Fit & Flare Striped Dress (black & white) $68

Stitch Fix 5

This shirt is super comfy and amazing and I heart it a lot.  The fabric is really soft, even right out of the box.  I’m sure it will get softer the more I wash it too.  The cut is great.  I feel totally comfortable in it.  Which isn’t always the easiest thing for me.  But I’ve worn this shirt like 3 times in the past week and a half if that tells you anything.

Pomelo Aleah Heathered V-Neck Dolman Top $48

Overall, I got two new great pieces to integrate into my wardrobe.  I can’t wait for my next shipment!

You can sign up for your own fix HERE.

Each month you pay a $20 styling fee that gets applied to your order total.

If you don’t keep anything it rolls into your next order, and so on.

I have been wondering about this as I am seeing a few of these pop up for subscription services. Do they have plus sizes? I am loving that dress, so cute! Gah, though what were they thinking with that plaid top? I don’t think that would be cute on anyone. No offense. It’s like a throwback from the 80/90s. I like the pink, too. So cute.
