Mocha Cupcake Milkshake

So check it, one of my blog friends, Ashton from Something Swanky, just packed up her life and moved.  Yeah.  Craziness.  I know we have moving/buying a house on our agenda this year, but still, that’s A LOT of work.  So a group of us decided to throw Mrs. Swank a little virtual house warming party.  Because that’s what friends do when you live far away.  Kind of like Jen’s birthday party.

I’ve been wanting to make a cupcake milkshake for months now.  I saw one on this post and became obsessed with the idea.  After a recent visit to one of my fave local bakeries I knew it was time.  This really is kind of the perfect moving dessert.  All you need is a blender, a spoon, and a straw – glass optional.  No digging around every box labeled “Kitchen” for hours to make the happiest shake ever.

You could make this milkshake with any flavor cupcake you want – the cupcake is the dominate shake flavor so choose wisely.  I went with a Caramel Mocha cupcake: chocolate cake with chocolate chips topped with milk chocolate coffee buttercream, coffee toffee, and a caramel drizzle.  Yeah.  That sounds very Ashton to me, I mean bloggers need their coffee, right?  And chocolate is every girls best friend.  I had some Talenti Gelato left in my freezer, so I used it up.  I totally love the Caramel Cookie Crunch.  It went perfectly with this cupcake.

I hope you’re getting settled and loving your new place Ashton!

  • 1 cucpake {pick your favorite flavor}
  • 2 heaping scoops vanilla ice cream {or any complimentary flavor}
  • 2 tablespoons to 1/4 cup milk
  • Cool Whip or Whipped Cream optional
  • Sprinkles optional but why wouldn't you want sprinkles

  1. Add 2 tablespoons milk into a blender. Add ice cream and unwrapped cupcake.
  2. Blend until smooth. Scrape down the sides of your blender to integrate everything - turn your blender off while yo scrape! If the milkshake is too thick, add more milk as needed - a couple tablespoons at a time.
  3. Serve with a big dollop of whipped cream on top and sprinkles!

    Oh my gosh– that caramel cookie crunch gelato was TOTALLY my stress-eating junk food of choice during this move! That is SO funny!! And this milkshake looks unreal– I mean, YES PLEASE! And you girls are so sweet. I just cannot get over this “SWEET” surprise!!!! You all are just the best blogging friends a girl could ask for!

      Great minds. I can’t get enough of gelato. There’s an amazing store next to my work. Every shift I leave I determine if I need gelato by the size of their line. It’s really bad. 🙂 You totally deserve to party Ashton!

    I never make milkshakes, and now I’m wondering why the heck not! This looks pretty darn cool and delicious. I’m so inspired to whip up my own!

    I love this recipe!! It’s just genius, taking two of the world’s most perfect things (cupcakes and milkshakes) and melding them into one unbelievably ridiculous deliciousness. Yum! And I love that you started your post off by saying “So check it” 😉
