This week has been a whirlwind. I’ve had 4 interviews for one job position in 4 days. Whew! Yes, after a year home with my wonderful boys, I’m making my best effort to get back into the work force. Life changes and needs must have. So back to a double-budget household it is.
I don’t find out until Monday if I got the job for sure, but it’s so weird to think about being away from my babies 8 hours a day. *sigh* I waited tables while I was pregnant with Thing 2 and Mike stayed home with Thing 1 in the evenings, but I was rarely gone more then 5 hours. Okay. Sorry for the pity party. It had to happen sometime. At least I’ll be able to leave the Things grandparents instead of day care when our work shifts over lap.
On a happy note, these onions are scrumdiddilyumptious. Throw them on a good steak and a pile of fluffy mashed potatoes and all your cares will go away. And have a glass of wine. That helps too.
Marinated Steak with Caramelized Onions
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes
- 2 pounds boneless sirloin steak
- 1/2 cup Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing
- 4 tablespoons A.1. Original Steak Sauce
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 sweet onions thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
Mix dressing, 4 tablespoons steak sauce, sugar, and garlic until well blended. Pour over steak in shallow dish; turn steak to coat both sides. Refrigerate 1 hour to marinate.
Heat oil in a large skillet on medium-high heat. Add onions; cook and stir 5 minutes. Cover; cook on medium-low heat for 15 minutes or until onions are golden brown, stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile, heat broiling pan under broiler. Remove steak from marinade; discard marinade. Place steak on broiler pan. Broil steak 4 inches from heat, 6 minutes on each side or until cooked to Medium center. Remove from heat; cover. Let stand 5 minutes before cutting across the grain into thin slices. Stir Worcestershire sauce into onions and cook 1 minute more. Serve over steak.
