Wine Smoothie | For White Lights on Wednesday by Cooking with Curls

Greetings WLOW friends, boy do I have a treat for you today!  This is Lisa from Cooking with Curls, and I am back this month with an amazing Wine Smoothie!

I have been making fruity Margaritas all summer, and jokingly referring to them as smoothies…..with alcohol. ;)  You can see my thinking right?  Fruit, pureed in a blender equals smoothie.  Smoothie equals healthy, right?  Health professionals keep saying that we need to consume more fruits, and this is my way of doing just that.

So this time I decided to just go ahead and make a cocktail as a smoothie.  The best part of this Wine Smoothie, is how incredibly easy it is to make.  A one pound bag of frozen fruit and a sweet white wine pureed in a blender…..

Perfection in a glass!!  I chose to use a combination of unsweetened strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, and raspberries from the freezer section of my local grocery store.  Choose whatever combination is available, but make sure you have a wide variety of flavors.

Next I headed to the wine department to find a sweet white wine that would compliment the berries.  I chose a Moscato, not realizing that it is a semi-sparkling wine.  It didn’t matter one bit, the end result was amazing!  It was so good, that I didn’t even notice the seeds. :) {I hate seeds}

I started with one cup of wine, and my 14 year old blender could not keep up.  I added an additional 1/2 cup, but it still seemed a bit too thick.  I added an additional 1/4 cup and it was perfect.  Every blender and every bag of fruit will blend differently, so adjust as needed.  Note: if you blender gets stuck while blending.  Turn it OFF and use a fork to stir the contents of the blender. Add a bit more liquid and continue blending until smooth.   Safety first! ;)

This recipe will make 3 to 4 drinks, depending on the size of your wine glasses.
