Red Hot Chocolate Martini

Whoa! Has it really been since September of last year since I shared a yummy cocktail recipe with you all??  The last time I had popped over to White Lights on Wednesday, I shared my recipe for Basil & Garlic Bloody Marys.  I was infusing vodka then, and now I am at it again with a cinnamon infused vodka made from Red Hots. ;)

I have been a long time fan of the cinnamon and chocolate flavor combination. Some may know it as Mexican chocolate.
I came across some whipped chocolate vodka the other day and starting scheming of a way that I could make a chocolate cinnamon martini perfect for Valentine’s Day.  Yes, I know there are cinnamon flavored liquors out there… but if you are familiar with the ones that are on the liquor store shelves, you probably know those are also pretty hardcore (ahem… *cough* Firewater).

I thought why not infuse some plain vodka by dumping some Red Hot candies in there??  Not only do you get a fabulous tasty cinnamon vodka, but it also turns to such a pretty red color- perfect for Valentine’s Day!

Ingredients

    Infused Vodka:
  • 1/4 cup Red Hot candies
  • 1 cup plain vodka
  • Red Hot Chocolate Martini:
  • 1 shot chocolate vodka
  • 1/3 shot Red Hot infused vodka
  • 1/3 cup half & half
  • Chocolate syrup

Directions

    Infused Vodka:
  1. Pour the Red Hot candies into a pint jar. Pour the vodka over top. Place the lid tightly on the jar and give it a good shake. Let it stand for 24 hours or until all the Red Hots are completely dissolved. Shake the jar at leas 3-4 times during the 24 hour period.
  2. Red Hot Chocolate Martini:
  3. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Pour in the vodka, the half & half, and a squirt of chocolate syrup and give it a quick shake.
  4. Decoratively squiggle chocolate syrup on the inside of your martini glass (optional).
  5. Strain the shaken martini from the cocktail shaker to the martini glass.
  6. Enjoy!
