Hi everyone! It’s Jenn from Endlessly Inspired. So glad to be back at White Lights on Wednesday, it’s been a while!
Today I’m going to show you how to make this gorgeous, yet ridiculously easy, bobby pin necklace.
Yeah, that’s right. I said bobby pin. How cool is this?
If you follow my blog at all {and if you don’t, you should!}, you know that I’m a bit obsessed with Anthropologie-inspired knock-offs. This is sort of another one. I had seen other DIY bobby pin necklaces on Pinterest before, and thought it would be cool to make one, but when I saw this Root-Needles Necklace from Anthropologie, it totally make me think of bobby pins and I knew I was going to have to make one for myself.
Because that one, while gorgeous, is $88. Which for Anthropologie, is actually not that bad. But either way, mine cost about $8, which is way better, and it literally took me about 5 minutes to make. And, if you use an old chain that you already have and the bobby pins you have in your bathroom drawer, you could actually make it for free!
I found this really cool chain in the crafts section at Walmart for around $4. It looks black when you first look at it, but the edges of each link are gold, so it’s kind of glittery when you move. I trimmed it down to about 17 inches and added the clasp and jump rings to the ends of the chain.
Then, I just started adding bobby pins! You literally just have to slide them on. I used a total of 40 regular-sized black bobby pins and 12 gold mini ones. I did a pattern of:
12 black – 4 gold – 8 black – 4 gold – 8 black – 4 gold – 12 black
I really love how it looks, and it’s fun because you can wear it with the flat part of the bobby pin out for a cleaner look, or you can flip it around and show the wavy part for a little funkier style.
Plus, you could whip out your trusty old spray paint and make them pretty much any color you could imagine.
