Do you have someone on your Christmas list that’s hard to shop for? I’m not just talking your grandpa who has been around so long he has everything under to sun. I’m talking your husband, boyfriend, or Dad that never wants anything when you ask them for present ideas. Yeah. Those guys. They have things they want, but they’re really hard to get and it wold be easier to give them cash than shop. Well, I kind of hate just giving cash. For some occasions it’s fine, but I kind of pride myself on finding a cool gifts that tailor to the person they’re for.
Meet my challenge: Mike
Sure. He’s cute and everything, but gosh is he hard to shop for. Not to mention that everyone in my family looks to me for ideas for him for Christmas and his birthday. Yeah. Most of the time he tells me he wants money to work on his ’55 Chevy. But most of my family isn’t into money gifts. They want to actually get him something. So not only am I trying to figure out what I should get him, but I figure out what everyone else should get him too. He likes video games, movies, and music, but I didn’t want him just getting fluff presents that he put away and never got to.
This year I was seriously stumped as to what to get him. Worse yet, he’s not giving me any ideas. Nothing! I’ve been forced to take matters into my own hands. Enter Best Buy. I love shopping at Best Buy. I’ve gotten my last two laptops, our printer, a bunch of video games, movies, and a camera there. The staff is always very helpful, and I’ve yet to not find what I’m looking for when I’m there. So I turned to Best Buy to help get ideas for Mike.
I headed over to the Best Buy Trending Gifts page to see what’s popular right now. I’m really visual when is comes to products and seeing one product will remind me of another and get the wheels turning. The PS4 is definitely on Mike’s non-list, but so out of budget right now. Mike’s not a total techie, but getting him one of the best tech gifts would surely score me some points. I noticed all the trending categories best Buy has, not just the individual prodcuts. There were MP3 Docks, Computer Accessories, Cameras, Phone Accessories, Fitness, Tablets, Laptops, TVs, Games, Phones, Small Appliances, and HEADPHONES categories! Yes!! That was it! I took a look around the store, just to make sure nothing else grabbed my attention more than the headphones. There were, but I’m on a budget.
I had to stop buy and see the PS4 in person.
Mike’s been talking about the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 + Gear for weeks now. I had to play it a bit and see how the Gear worked. It’s like being a spy. Super fun. Now I know why he wants to jump the upgrade gun.
I got some great stocking stuffer ideas for Mike too!
A 1 year membership to PlayStation Plus, iTunes gift card (gotta have some new music to listen to with his headphones), SD cards for the phone, tablet, and cameras, and I almost bought a new hair clipper set. Ours died. I can’t believe the price was so good. I’m going back for that guy.
My after work run to Best Buy totally worked out. Mike almost always uses his headphones to listen to stuff on his phone, and I know he is over the earbuds he has. They hurt his ears after too long, and we can’t have that. We’ve been using Skull Candy earbuds for years, and have always been happy with them. Luckily there was an easy to find display of Skull Candy headphones for me to shop.
I grabbed a pair that had the specs Mike would like, and were in budget. The demo area was great. I got to try on the different types of headphones and hear the sound quality myself. LOVE that! One of the big things I knew the headphones needed was the option to plug into his phone. He sits up in bed at watches funny videos, listens to bagpipe bands and music at night, and he plugs in so I can sleep. I couldn’t tell just from looking at the box, and a Best Buy associate assured me the audio jack would fit the phone without and adapter. Yay!
I was headed to pay when I spotted the Best Buy gift card kiosk. That’s what I’m telling everyone else to get him. We may not be able to afford a PS4 right now, but if Mike gets a bunch of Best Buy gift cards I think we could get one ASAP!
I was so close to making it to the register when I spotted these.
I think at this point I’ve mentioned how super hero obsessed the littles are like a million times. Well they also kind of love headphones. We got them a pair for their first plane ride this fall so they could listen to movies on the tablet. Best Buy had Captain America headphones! So now all the boys are getting headphones for Christmas. I’m a sucker for my boys.
