Are you ready to get your sweet on?  We are!!!  Today I’m showing you some killer Halloween treats made with Nestle candies that’s fun, festive, and so easy to make the kids can get in on the action.  Better yet, I put together a little pre trick-or-treating dinner with scary Tombstone Pizza pieces and spooky drinks to really take the Halloween fun to the next level!

Tombstone & Nestle Easy Halloween Dinner

Tombstone frozen pizza – “The Official Pizza of Halloween” – is an easy way to get dinner on the table without slaving over a stove and dealing with all the dish clean up before running around with the kids and answering the door for the millionth time.  :)

My boys LOVED the monster face on the Tombstone pizza.  They kept telling me we were buying werewolf pizza and that it was “so spooky.”  They’re really into Halloween this year.

I baked the pizza according to the package directions.  Then, for a little Halloween fun, I grabbed my skull and black cat cookie cutters, and cut the pizza into shapes.  I did have to use my meat mallet to get the cookie cutters all the way through the pizza – the pizza was still hot and I didn’t want to burn my hand.  Otto told me the cat piece were werewolves.  He totally remembered the package and thought it was really cool that the pizza pieces matched.

I grabbed all our favorite Nestle candies to make these rice cereal treats.  I though about making black rice cereal treats, dipping them in chocolate and topping them with the Nerd’s for a witch’s cauldron.  Instead I’m going to make these soft sugar cookies from Sally’s Baking Addiction (LOVE her cookes!) with nerds instead of sprinkles on Halloween for the boys.  They’re gonna flip!  You can see more about our shopping trip HERE.

But let’s get to the sweets!  I’ve made you wait long enough.  We had a blast making these rice cereal treats.  When I got the chance to work with Butterfingers (my favorite candy bar) and Nestle Crunch bars (my mom’s favorite) I immediately knew I wanted to do something Frankenstein and pumpkin themed – color matching and all.

Rice cereal treats were easy to make and my boys can never get enough of them.  So I made the treats, dipped them in the chocolate and candy melts, and let me littles top them with candy.  We had such a great afternoon putting these little guys together.  You could even make these treats to pass out on Halloween instead of candy.  Just wrap them in a cellophane bag with a some ribbon and voila!

Julie Espy {White Lights on Wednesday}

Ingredients

  • 6 cups rice cereal
  • One 10 ounce package big marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • Green and orange food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • One 12 ounce package green candy melts
  • 12 Nestle Crunch fun-size candy bars, rough chopped
  • 8 Butterfinger fun-size candy bars, rough chopped
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Directions

  1. Coat a 9" x 9" baking dish with non-stick cooking spray; set aside.
  2. Melt 1 1/2 tablespoons butter in a large pot over medium heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and add 1/2 package marshmallows. Stir occasionally until marshmallows are melted and smooth. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla; stir. Add a little green food coloring. Stir to color marshmallows; if needed add more food coloring until desired color is reached.
  3. Remove pot from heat. Add 3 cups rice cereal. Stir until well combined and cereal is colored. Pour into prepared baking dish. Spray and little non-stick cooking spray on your hand and carefully press cereal mixture evenly into pan. Set aside and allow treats to set up for 1 hour.
  4. Repeat above steps with same ingredient measurements and orange food coloring.
  5. Once treats are set, cut each cereal block into 9 even pieces. Remove treats from pan and place on a baking sheet, treats should not be touching. Add chocolate chips and vegetable oil in a bowl. Microwave for 1 minute. Stir chocolate. Microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring after each heating, until chocolate is smooth.
  6. Place chopped candy in another bowl.
  7. Dip top of green cereal treats in chocolate, place on plate (dipped side up), and top with chopped Nestle Crunch bars. Repeat with remaining green cereal treats.
  8. Add candy melts to a bowl, microwave for 1 minute, then stir. Continue to heat candy melts at 30 seconds intervals, stirring between each heating, until candy melts are smooth.
  9. Dip tops of orange cereal treats into candy melts. {I had a little trouble with the candy melts sticking and used an offset spatula to top the cereal treats instead} Sprinkle tops of "pumpkin" treats with chopped Butterfingers.
  10. Place in fridge to set for 30 minutes before serving.
